Background Artists

If you are reading this, you may have been chosen to be a background artist for our show. I have put together this blog  so you will have the opportunity to understand the era and mood we are trying to achieve.  This will be fun trip into the past.

As a background artist for the show you are expected to arrive   dressed and ready for work. Your outfit is a back up to our costumes.

We may or may not use what you wear , but please understand we would rather use you on camera, then send you home because you don't fit in what we have available.

No visible tattoos please. This is Summertime and short sleeves will be used.

For Gentlemen either  a business suit or  sport jacket, slacks, dress shirt, under t-shirt, belt, and dress shoes.

For Ladies  either a knee length dress or knee length skirt and blouse; panty hose, body smoother, bra, pumps/heels.  Pearls if you have them.

Below the photos you will find you will find what is expected from MAKE-UP and HAIR. PLEASE READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS TOO

Here is a color palette to keep in mind :

In addition there are fun video clips,  and films links, to help bring you into the world of the 1940's.

Your style is very important to the look of the show.  So please  make sure your measurements are accurate and updated with extras casting which helps us find outfits for you. We apologize but you will be sent  home if your measurements are wrong and we cannot accommodate the different size.

The 1940's style was very glamorous.  Notice in the photos below, the suits had wider lapels, shoulder pads and very high waisted pants. Men's ties were short and wide  many with bold prints.
For the women, the large shoulder pads and nipped waistlines gave them the perfect hourglass shape. Skirts were knee length in the early half of the 1940's, and then hemlines dropped to mid-calf post-war 1947.

The photos below are oversized so that you can view more detail. However you may need to slide the page from side to side in order to see the complete photo.

There are video links below the photos.

Men were clean shaven for the most part- except for those dashing pencil mustaches
